New Japan Pro Wrestling: Dominion 2017 - The Plus and The Minus

I'm back again with another Plus and Minus, this time we're talking about this mornings NJPW Dominion show, I didn't get up early enough so I only saw the last 4 matches. But they were long and great and enough to talk about for a post, but that also means there wasn't a minus here.. well maybe.
The Plus

+ Kushida vs Hiromu Takahashi: IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship

These two have had a collection of great matches now and to no big shock they had another great one, compared to the next matches we saw this one was a shorter one but still entertaining. Some highlights of this match have to be Kushida's Sabu-esque dropkick from the chair into Takahashi. The two started the match with some back and forth stiff slaps to each others chest and near the end of the match the same spot was revisited with both exhausted on their knees. Some great story telling and in the end we see Kushida take the victory and he poses with his Super Juniors shield, the ROH TV Title and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight belt. While Kushida celebrates we saw BUSHI attack him from behind spraying mist into his face. Assuming this is the next feud for Long Beach it should be fun. If I'm going to guess, I would say the WK 12 match-up may be Kushida vs Marty Scurll for both ROH and IWGP belts. This is a good way to intertwine a ROH storyline into New Japan especially since Marty is a newly debuted Junior to Japan and former TV champ.

+ Hirooki Goto vs Minoru Suzuki: NEVER Openweight Championship

New Japan never usually do gimmick type matches and on paper the Lumberjack match, even with Goto and Suzuki, you can't help but feel the match would be lack-luster. But surprisingly it wasn't that way at all. The match showed Suzuki in the best light however, as a 49 Year Old, who recently got much much leaner, it's crazy to see him move so quick, hit so hard and look unfazed and undamaged by the end of the match. Goto is my favourite underdog in New Japan and it is sad to see his shot at the NEVER Openweight gone for a while but hopefully he will be implemented into a new string of storylines soon, maybe he is even in the G1 tournament. The match itself did have a little too much interference for me but overall it did add a lot, especially sections between Suzuki and Liger, which is something I would like to see at WK12, or Suzuki vs Yoshi-hashi, which is the next feud for the belt. I also saw our own English resident Zack Sabre Jr take a lot of shots at Tomohiro Ishii. I'm unsure if this was intentional or not but I'd love to see some kind of match up between those two. Overall fun match.

+ Tetsuya Naito vs Hiroshi Tanahashi: IWGP Intercontinental Championship

The story here was really cool. Naito is one of the biggest wrestling stars in the world today and his LIJ gimmick of being 'Tranquillo' has allowed him to create a story that hasn't been seen like this before. IWGP Championship has been broken and destroyed to the point where the side plates had fell off the strap had been worn and the main plate of the belt had actually snapped. Not only that but Naito insisted that he would retire the belt if he won. Sadly I know that means he definitely isn't winning especially when the belt is the second biggest in New Japan. Either way it was very worthy of being the second to last match on the card and eventually saw Tanahashi take the belt away from Naito. Hopefully we see a new design or restoration of the IC belt cause it is horrible looking right now.

+ Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada: IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Okada has had the best year in Pro Wrestling this year. 6 Stars at WK, other great 5 star matchups with Suzuki and Shibata and now the rematch from WK with Kenny Omega. Guess what? It is better than the last on, at least I thought so. If Dave Meltzer agrees then he is gonna have to give this match a 7 Star rating. The match was the perfect blend of story telling, and amazing technical and flashy wrestling. The biggest part for me was when Omega finally hit the One Winged Angel on Okada something he couldn't do last match and has been shown as a finisher that FINISHES a match. Once that move is executed you've lost, Kenny hit the move and Okada luckily had his leg on the rope right next to him. Keeping the move sacred and still hitting it within the match. I also loved how New Japan handled The Young Bucks throughout the match, knowing that in Long Beach in a couple of weeks they will be debuting in USA, they want their biggest USA stars looking at least like faces to the fans of them. So The Young Bucks spent the match calling tips to Kenny, encouraging Kenny and seeing if he was ok when he took a big bump. To fans of Okada this could have been seen as the Young Bucks constantly getting involved but to the ones supporting Kenny we saw The Young Bucks being good friends and not interfering in the match at all. Especially when Okada put Kenny on the table and The Bucks went mental to the ref shouting "What the hell, why are you allowing this" which is a valid point. We also saw the rest of The Bullet Club especially Cody Rhodes look concerned for Kenny and coming out and making it clear that they didn't want Kenny to get hurt anymore. This could sprout some divide in The Bullet Club which will also be a great storyline. The match ended in a draw which is a crazy thought especially when you could consider this match probably the best Professional Wrestling match ever had. Afterwards we saw Cody again, this time interrupting Okada's press conference and issuing a challenge at Long Beach, I'm looking forward to what Cody can do with the best wrestler in the world.

The Minus

- KENNY SHOULD'VE WON DAMMIT

Personally I want Kenny Omega to have that belt, like a lot. And because of the draw, I think New Japan should have the belt in a limbo state until they can have a rematch, I think that would be an interesting storyline to have and they could have the rematch during Long Beach, but they might not want to waste Omega/Okada III a month later after the last one. But that's just my opinion.

I hope you enjoyed this wrestling addition of The Plus and The Minus. I will probably do these for the WWE PPVs that I watch and for the NJPW events that I get the chance to watch. I'll see you next time!

E3 2017: EA Play Conference - The Plus and The Minus

Welcome to the new series of posts that I'm calling 'The Pus and The Minus' where I take whatever subject I'm talking about and take it down into the bit I think were a plus and the parts I think were a minus.

The first addition is part of the E3 2017 season and it's EA Play! What a way to kick off E3... Maybe not.

The Minus

- TOO MUCH SPORTS

I'm not a big sports guy, and sure I should really be used to the idea that they will always show sports games cause that's their biggest games. But NBA, NFL, Fifa I don't care and taking up the mst of your show with it just alienates the actually audience who are here and tuning in for E3.

- YouTubers and Streamers! LMAO!! xD xD

As some one who watches YouTube everyday, seeing famous YouTubers and streamers as a big part of a conference is EXTREMELY cringy. The most obvious part of this during the conference was Jesse from the channel PrankVSPrank. Someone who is no longer in the trending eye of YouTube and someone who isn't really associated to games. I'd rather just be talked to by the devs not a minor YouTube celebrity who has no reason to be at the conference talking about that game

- New Bioware project

This is a minus because they announced it and showed literally NOTHING. Either show us something substantial or don't show us anything and save the surprise for the conference you will be showing it at.

 - Where are all the surprises?

What happened? Rumours of Skate 4, no where to be seen, no news on the other Star Wars games that we know are being made cause you showed us last year? Not even anything from left-field ? Just a bland normal conference.

The Plus

+ A Way Out

This game looks rad, this is a new co-op only game. That's right you can only play this game co-op, whether that be couch or online. I think that will be the aspect that makes or breaks this game, I'm optimistic. It is from the creators of Brothers. Which was another game that was heavily based on two characters and their story, and this games gimmick is the co-op and the idea that it is a story heavy game. I can't wait to sit down with my buddy or girlfriend and give this game a go and to experience a story together.

+ Star Wars Battlefront II

The opinions on this seems quite split, some see it as a boring extension of the previous game while others think they definitely have listened to their audience. I honestly believe they have listened to the community, I can't wait to play the story. Also the old PS2/PC Star Wars Battlefront II is one of my favourite games of all time, and this game at least looks like they looked at that game for changes. Classes are a big deal at making the game interesting. The points system based on kills to allow you unlock those new classes/heroes just like the older games. Also it has the ship gameplay and ground gameplay combined which is something I've wanted in Battlefront ever since the PS2 game. I'm looking forward to the game, I'm still gonna let the game come out and get the reviews in first before I start to look at buying it but I'm excited nontheless.

Overall the show was cringy and kinda bad. But hopefully that means the bar has been set low for the rest of the week so we can get hyped later. I'll be posting about E3 throughout the week and a new post for each conference. I'll see you again for Microsoft and Bethesda!

Paramore - After Laughter Review

Paramore’s fifth album After Laughter is a continuation of the new pop centred sound that they curated in their previous album. Compared to the previous album, this is a great follow-up especially if you consider this an attempt to get past the sophomore blues as this is the second album of their more pop-orientated sound away from the punk aspect, but alongside that I must say the self-titled album still is a better album overall. This may just come down to personal taste but I felt more connected to that album then than I do to this album now.

The album has a core aesthetic of 80s/90s pop merged with the more current sounding pop and although this isn’t anything new, especially when you look at current indie bands, I think this album is probably one of the best executions of such a sound. You don’t have to look any further with that than Hard Times, their first single from this album and in my opinion one of the best pop album openers and songs written in this past decade. The song is immensely catchy and gives off the happy summery vibes that it needs to for a summer album, so much so that I can’t help myself dancing in my room to the song like an idiot. This sort of feeling continues in other great tracks like Rose Coloured Boy, Told You So, Pool and Grudges. We have other tracks that are a bit slower and emotional too, 26 is probably the best example of this, this is one of the strong suits of Paramore, managing to make a song sound so intimate but still so big with violins, xylophone, piano and another slew of instruments layered over each other. The album closer Tell Me How is another notable example of this that neatly tied the album to its ending. But one of the most interesting to me is No Friend, the first Paramore song to not have Hayley on vocals shows a moodier side to Paramore that hasn’t been seen before. We have a spoken word monologue quietly underneath the music that Taylor and Zac play together, it creates this mysterious tension, at first listen I thought this may be some response to ex-bassist Jeremy Davis leaving and his subsequent lawsuit, but later I realised this wasn’t the case, either way a really great diversion to what Paramore usually do.

Although I do love some of these tracks there are a couple that I have a love hate relationship for, there isn’t any problems with the instrumentals on this album, in fact I think that is the strongest aspect of this album, and I still enjoy these songs they are catchy but I have an issue with lyrics from the songs Fake Happy and Idle Worship. Fake Happy comes across so teenage girl to me, 'I'm so sad' type thing, which has always cringed me out, it is the way the lyrics is presented to me.

Idle Worship has a similar problem in the way it is lyrically presented, a song that should be all about the idea of celebrities being held to too high standards and how the general public hoist them and praise them like gods of some kind, instead comes across as Hayley saying ‘I’m so flawed, I’m a really bad person, no one should like me, stop liking me’ This subject is tackled in a much better and intelligent way in the song No Friend, if you look up the lyrics for that song it talks about the same ideas but not in such a cringy way.

What it boils down to here is that the lyrics in both songs sound like a very self-indulged person, garnering sympathy from people because of being sad but then also put herself on a pedestal in later lyrics. I’m not saying anything she is trying to say is untrue, instead the way she has presented it feels like she is trying to get attention from everyone specifically on her rather than talking about the actual issues that the tracks should be about. If I’m wrong about this and are missing something go ahead and tell me but these are just my thoughts and take-aways from these tracks and their lyrics.

Regardless this album is superb, the last album is still better to me, I believe it is the most important album that Paramore have in their discography but After Laughter is an obvious great extension and follow-up to that album and that sound. I can’t wait to see where the band go next.

4/5 Stars

WWE Season Awards 2016-17

It's that time of year again, yes it is time for me to give my own personal opinion about WWE figurative year, from the Raw after Wrestlemania 32 to Wrestlemania 33. Now I started doing these back in the years where NXT was growing and now it is a much more substanial brand with it showing up Main Roster most of the time, it has been a debate of mine about if I want to start including NXT in the WWE awards, but I think my conclusion has come to that this will stay as Main Roster only and I will probably start a new award blog for an actual End Of Year Awards as my viewership of wrestling has extended a huge amount over these past few years.

But let's get on with the 2016-17 Season Awards:

Best Moment Of The Year - The Hardy Boys Return at Wrestlemania 33

I think the biggest pop from me this year was the surprising and amazing return of Matt and Jeff Hardy, off the back of their best run since Wrestlemania 25 the little boy in me wept with joy as I watched two of my all-time favourite wrestlers take to the ring. The return is even more surprising when you realise the two had been in another ladder match for ROH Tag Team Titles the night before against best team in the world The Young Bucks. Truly WONDERFUL!

Worst Moment Of The Year - Roman Reigns entering at number 30 in the Royal Rumble

"Could it be Finn Balor!? He is back! He returned on a house show last week! Maybe it's Samoa Joe, I'm ok with that too, he isn't on the card and he needs to look more like a monster. Maybe it's someone INSANE like Kurt Angle or something, he is gonna be in the Hall Of Fame. Oh..oh here we goo! 5..4..3..2..1...

For fuck's sake."

Best PPV Of The Year - Wrestlemania 33

This year I was adamant that we would get another PPV which would be better than Wrestlemania but alas the instant classic that was 33 has blown everything else out of the water, maybe it was the fact that 32 was a lack luster and disappointing event but this years card was stacked to the brim with great bouts including Styles/Shane, Rollins/Triple H, Tag Team Ladder Match and even the heart breaking Reigns/Undertaker all made the event what it was. Though I do think it would be unfair if I didn't shoutout some of the runners up which all would've won the award by themselves if it wasn't for the year being so stacked of great PPVs, Battleground and Survivor Series, as well as most of the Smackdown Live exclusive PPVs.

Worst PPV Of The Year - Roadblock

A PPV where nothing was good and everything was mediocre, and overall most of the RAW exclusive PPVs were the same, but they all had one good match, Hell in a Cell had Owens/Rollins, Clash Of Champions had Roman/Rusev, Fastlane had Neville/Gallagher, sadly Roadblock didn't have one of these.

Best Debut Year (formerly Rookie Of The Year) - Alexa Bliss

Looking back at this award, especially last years winner Kevin Owens, it felt unfair to be calling these already pre-made stars 'rookies' so I thought a better way to state it was the Best Debut Year, someone who debuted on Main Roster in this year and has made the biggest impact and the best run.

There were a couple no-brainers you could've put here but all of it unfair to me, Finn Balor should have had this award but his shoulder injury that took him out for the rest of the year after his debut a month before made it impossible for me in good conscience give it to him. We had Baron Corbin who had a good year but not great, he also debuted at Mania 32, and if we're sticking by the rules that I have for this (which we should) that means he debuted last year. So the only person left I feel is worthy of having this award is Alexa Bliss. Someone who's potential was so obvious in NXT but never capitalised on enough, here on Main Roster though, she made the Smackdown Live Women's Division worth watch every week. Her matches with Becky Lynch, Mickie James and Naomi have all been good, entertaining matches and she has been the most entertaining women on the whole Main Roster. I think she will be known to be cornerstone of this resurgence in women's wrestling in a decades time.

Superstar Of The Year - AJ Styles

It's har to put anyone else in this spot and it might be hard for AJ to be toppled of this award in the future too. His debut last year was my shock of the year but because he was only around for 3 months I didn't feel it fair to give him a shot here, but thi year he has proven and cemented himself as the best wrestler in the world period. Some may argue that his Bullet Club replacement Kenny Omega is better in-ring but I don't believe there is anyone better overall as a wrestling performer than AJ Styles right now. Sone od his highlights this year include, some stellar matches like Roman Reigns at Payback and Extreme Rules, Having one of the best feuds of the year with John Cena, winning the WWE Championship etc. It couldn't go to anyone better.

Underutilised Star Of The Year (formerly Superstar who needs a push) - Luke Harper

I've decided to change the name of this award because I think the previous name was just a bad name, and this new name more correctly describes what I'm looking at, someone with potential who is getting little to no air time and has potential to do something great.

So there is a couple of obvious choices like Cesaro, but his teaming with Sheamus and before that the Best Of 7 series aloud him to have some kind of push and be on Raw every week. I'm more looking for some one who had opportunities, pulled it out of the bag and then didn't get a push because the company decided not to take it further. I think the best example of this has been Luke Harper, he was always considered the best out of the 3 other members of The Wyatt Family and this year has shown it once again. His feud with Orton and Wyatt has allowed him to look like a major contender in the WWE Championship, and in my personal opinion he should've been in the Mania match making it a triple threat and probably not a bad match. I think in the next year Harper should get the IC or US belt once again, hell give him the Money In The Bank! I think he is 100% worth it.

Woman Of The Year - Alexa Bliss

Let's be honest here, I'm sure some of you think any of the Four Horsewomen, especially Charlotte maybe deserves this more this year, and I think you could have an argument their, but Charlotte has never stuck out to me as the best of the four, Sasha has been in a dull maze of booking and Bayley had poor handling since debuting on Main Roster, the closest to winning this is Becky Lynch who is a great face but not as good as Alexa is Heel. Alexa has completely blown the rest of the women out of the water.

See Best Debut Year for more

Team Of The Year - The New Day

For a second year running I have to give this award to The New Day, this year however it is kind of a sad reason why. In a company where we have some of the most gifted wrestlers and teams in the world, no team really had a stand out year in my opinion. Even with teams like Cesaro & Sheamus, The Club, American Alpha, The Usos and Breezango, none of them got a chance to shine more than The New Day who's year was fairly dull also. They did break the all time Tag Championship record and that is truly commendable especially as they didn't get boring throughout. But with the Smackdown Tag division basically being non-existent and Raw's being mediocre it's hard to be excited about anyone winning this award. Let's hope this next year is a bit better.

Heel Of The Year - AJ Styles

AJ Styles had been known for not being a good talker back in the glory days of TNA, and even though that was such a long time ago it was still an opinion lots of people had. But if it wasn't for his microphone work AJ Styles would not have been the best heel this year. AJ had a subtle gimmick of just being 'Best in the World' he never really needed to stoop low to underhanded tactics like Seth Rollins did a year earlier, the subtle nature of the gimmick with the attitude of 'No one can dispute I'm the best because I am' made the whole character convincing and layered.

See Superstar Of The Year for more

Face Of The Year - Chris Jericho

This was a hard one for me, I always seem to gravitate towards heel superstars as some of my favourites, but of the short period that Chris Jericho was face this year he did a superb job. He was mainly heel throughout the year and it was probably his best run for a long time, but I had to give the award to AJ, but he was also a great face considering how short a time period he was one, the feud with Kevin Owens was probably the second best this year and it wouldn't have been half feud it was if it wasn't for Chris Jericho. Seth Rollins was a close competitor for this but his face run had been dull and full of dick and poop jokes until the build for his Mania match which was one of my favourite feuds of the year also.

Shock Of The Year - Goldberg defeating Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series

I went into this match with no enthusiasm, I didn't hate Goldberg I actually quite enjoyed him on Raw, but I didn't think he was going to be very good in-ring, especially against Brock Lesnar, someone who I haven't really enjoyed since Mania 32 when he had a bad match against Dean Ambrose which should've been a barn-burner. But when I watched Goldberg beat Lesnar is such quick and cpnvincing fashion I completely lost my mind, the idea that WWE would book this match the way they did was an insane concept and it was one of the best parts of this past year

Match Of The Year - AJ Styles vs John Cena at Summerslam

This year was full of amazing matches, most have been over looked due to the sheer amount of amazing matches from other companies as well. My personal favourite coming from NXT and their tag division. But as main roster goes my favourite had to be AJ Styles vs John Cena at Summerslam, a purely amazing match that made the long show into something truly enjoyable. Some other matches that deserve a shoutout, Owens/Zayn at Battleground, Men's Survivor Series Match, Balor/Rollins at Summerslam, Both Styles/Reigns Matches, Styles/Cena at Rumble, Styles/Shane at Mania, HHH/Rollins at Mania and Ziggler/Miz at No Mercy.

Feud Of The Year - AJ Styles vs John Cena

It is kind of hard not to give this feud the award as it basically span the whole year and will probably continue into next year. The subtle story of 'TNA guy' vs 'WWE guy' has been a dream match among many for a long time and unlike previous 'dream matches' where they never lived up to expectations, this match did exactly that and on more than one occasion. Promo wars every week on Smackdown and matches every other month allowed it to be the most compelling feud of this year.

See Match Of The Year for more

And that's it for this year, something I think need shouting out from this year but I didn't get a chance too, The Miz's Talking Smack promo on Daniel Bryan, Miz has had a great year including the Dolph Ziggler feud he had. Chris Jericho has had the best run of his career this year and his pairing and subsequent feud with Kevin Owens has been another highlight of this year.

Gorillaz - Humanz Review

Listening to Humanz over these past few weeks have been a complete whirlwind of emotions. Much like everyone the initial listen of the album was horrific. The album felt completely random, messy and unnecessarily filled to the brim with features. Before the album was released we got some singles that I really enjoyed, Ascension, Andromeda, Saturnz Barz and We Got The Power, I could tell from these tracks pretty quickly that Gorillaz had taken a more modern route to the tracks they were writing, which has been expected by them as they seem to grow with the climate of hip-hop. The difference here was that, even with writing and artwork, they seemed to be a complete lack of character that we purposely look for in Gorillaz albums. Hardly anyone knows anything about any type of story for the album cycle like we have before, the tracks didn't help with this. It felt like Albarn as 2D was hardly on the album, that's why the track Busted and Blue quickly became a favourite by most fans, devoid of anyone else but Albarn it gave us an actual Gorillaz song.

Although I say all this, I don't hate this album, I always like to give albums a week, give it a couple of listens so initial reactions don't cloud my judgement, it's an easy way for me to actually find the bad albums, and although initially disappointing and still their worst album, Humanz is not bad. It has its moments (pun intended) and I've started to really enjoy some of these songs, the best parts of each are Damon and the layering of ideas can become something beautiful things like at the end of Charger or Andromeda. If you get past some of the worst tracks you can really dig up some soon to be classics by Gorillaz. It is still their worst album but it isn't bad.

Here are some tracks I think are worth listening to from the album:

Ascension
Strobelite
Saturnz Barz
Submission
Charger
Andromeda
Busted and Blue
Let Me Out
We Got The Power

WWE 2015-16 Season Awards

Another year and another round of awards for the figurative WWE season. That’s right I’m back to give you my thoughts and awards on the best and the worst of WWE this year, for the 3rd year in the row. If this is the first one you’ve read the awards are determined between the Raw after Mania 31 to Mania 32. Let’s get right into it.
Best Moment of the year – Kevin Owens beats John Cena in his debut match at Elimination Chamber
EC15_Photo_153-2786920194
For me I hadn’t been so happy with a match and an outcome in a long time. Seeing Kevin Owens, being someone who embodies the kind of guys I like and support against the face of the company, the embodiment of the WWE’s perfect wrestler and then win was the most ecstatic feeling, it was such a good match and the two guys might not be able to top it for a while.
Worst moment of the year – Roman Reigns wins the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 32
534_WM32_04032016cm7982--93772e46ff33effc279254d1253f64e0
Somehow we managed to fend it off last year but this year there was no escaping it. Vince wanted his new samoan golden boy to be the next big star and he wanted that main event win at Mania. I don’t care about Reigns, and hearing by the poorly turned down boo’s of the AT&T Stadium I don’t think anyone else does either.
Best PPV of the year – Night Of Champions
WWE Night of Champions 2015 Poster
For the first time during these awards WrestleMania doesn’t win this award, buytI don’t think any PPVS truly deserved the award, there were no real standouts instead just standout matches. So I’ve picked the PPV that had the better card of matches, none of these matches I hated too much, with a double Rollins main event I guess it couldn’t have gone too wrong.
Worst PPV of the year – WrestleMania 32
wrestlemania-32-logo
I really didn’t wanna do this and maybe it’s just the sour taste it’s left in my mouth since this is the morning before and maybe it’s because it was supposed to be the best PPV of the year but Mania this year has really felt like a disappointment. Some matches were good, like AJ/Jericho, Women’s Title Match, IC Ladder Match and Shane/Taker but the winners of most matches were the wrong ones, and the rest being terrible matches too. The only two winners that felt good for me were Ryder and Corbin. Let’s hope I don’t feel like this with next year’s Mania.
Rookie of the year – Kevin Owens
1401x788-MITB_06142015rf-258-3977748453
Sure the word Rookie isn’t great (as I realised when JBL and Jericho kept saying it about Styles) but it’s really all about the best wrestler who debut and Main Roster this year and made the biggest impact, and no one did it like Kevin Owens this year. Owens came out with a big mouth and an attitude ready to chop down the the face of the company and US champion. Since then has made Main Roster interesting to watch, let’s hope he’ll be around for a long time.
Superstar of the year – Seth Rollins
7siFpXj4-600x399
After WrestleMania last year Seth Rollins became THE MAN, not only did he carry Raw most weeks but he kept putting on great matches and great stories, it’s a shame he missed this years Mania through to injury, the year he should’ve definitely Main Evented. I have no doubt in my mind he deserved this.
Superstar who needs a push – Neville
720x405-RAW_1142_Photo_247-819303289-(1)
Debuted the night after Mania 31 but nothing really happened since. Sadly one of the most gifted wrestlers in the company right now is being treated as a mid-carder when he should be getting more exposure and more time. It looks like through Ryder’s win at Mania that Neville if he didn’t get injured may have actually got his first Main Roster title and a decent push. Maybe it makes Ryder’s win a little bittersweet.
Woman of the year – Sasha Banks
sasha-banks-27952537-620x400
Although the Women’s division has gone through some highs and lows this year, it’s fair to say it’s come out better for it. I could’ve given this to Charlotte as she has been Divas & now Women’s champion and given the most air time but I believe she’s been off and on all year, meanwhile Sasha Banks, with little we’ve seen of her, she has been stellar every time. So Sasha this is to you and lets hope you continue for the next year and the years afterwards.
Team of the year – The New Day
New-Day
NEW DAY ROCKS, New Day’s debut wasn’t the greatest start but they adapted to their criticisms and came out as a better team for it. Arguably the most entertaining part of Raw for a couple of months and the best and legitimate heel team for a long time until turning back face through sheer fan cheers and applause over their wild and funny antics on Raw every week. No other team have come even close to them this year, they fully deserve this.
Heel of the year – Seth Rollins
9a7aed360ea2cff6d107c2189ade1922_crop_north
For a second year in a row, Seth Rollins once again is the best heel of the company, being the forefront of most Raw’s and playing the ‘chickenshit’ heel perfectly. Want more? Read Superstar of the year.
Face of the year – Dean Ambrose
SD-Report-122215.png-640x370
Just like last year, Dean Ambrose has become the one wrestler who gets cheered no matter who is on the other side of the ring, something that Vince wishes his former Shield brother Roman Reigns could have. Dean has been backed by fans all year, always teetering on the edge of the championship gold, with screwy finishes, it always seems to be just out of Ambrose’s reach. Something we the fans gravitate towards just like we did with Daniel Bryan. Hopefully WWE will finally come to their senses and replace Reigns’ push with Ambrose and we can finally see Dean with the title.
Shock of the year – AJ Styles debuts at the Royal Rumble
maxresdefault
There had been rumors for weeks before hand about AJ Styles and if he would truly be coming to WWE. The idea felt impossible, the TNA original stepping foot into a WWE ring? Would he be going to NXT or Main Roster? AJ was possibly the biggest star, behind Sting, who had never stepped foot in a WWE ring, so when he turned up as number 3 the crowd at the Rumble and every fan at home jumped out of their seats and screamed at the top of their lungs.
